STAFF DEVELOPMENT TRAINING RUN BY PEGASUS

1. ASSESSMENT AND HUMANE STRATEGIES:
Behavioural Assessment forms the basis of Humane Intervention Strategies and provides the baseline for Quality Assurance protocols. It prevents use of prolonged interventions and aversive procedures.
Humane Strategies bring about changes in the individual’s quality of life and reduction of inappropriate behaviours, with existing resources.
One-Day Course Covers:
Proactive Strategies:

Differential Reinforcement of Other Behaviours (DRO)

Differential Reinforcement of Alternate Behaviours (DR-Alt)
-
Differential Reinforcement of Low Rate Behaviours (DRL).
Reactive Strategies:
Active Listening; Stimulus Change; Stimulus Control; Diffusing and Neutralising; Crisis Intervention.
Consistent Management Plan:
Learn the art of writing out Behavioural Management Plan, which is Procedural, Legal, Ethical and Moral.
On completion of the above 1 day programme, participants will:-

be able to understand the function or reasons for difficult behaviour.

be able to explain the process and use of assessment tools.

be able to understand different methods of intervention strategies to enable them to work with people with challenging or difficult behaviour.
2. GENTLE TEACHING:
It is a non-aversive approach for helping people with special needs and sometimes challenging behaviours that focuses on teaching the person to feel safe, engaged, unconditional acceptance. It is a strategy based on Psychology of Interdependence that sees all change as being mutual and bringing about a feeling of companionship and community-symbols of justice and non-violence”(McGee et al).
